Orca Recovery Day

Our amazing volunteers planted 240 native trees and shrubs at Salmon Creek for Orca Recovery Day 2024. Thanks so much to our partners at North Olympic Salmon Coalition for co-hosting the event for the fourth year in a row. Thank you!

We hope you’ll join us next year. Stay tuned next fall for details.

If you want to join the effort to expand the riparian buffer on Salmon Creek this fall, be sure to join North Olympic Salmon Coalition for two more volunteer planting days at the site from 10am-2pm on November 16th and December 5th. https://nosc.org/events/

This is important habitat for Endangered Hood Canal summer chum salmon. Recent studies have shown that when Chinook salmon, the preferred prey of Southern Resident Orcas, is in short supply, they’ll supplement their diet with other species, including chum salmon.
